Welcome to this experiment.  Our Katahdin is a volunteer driven nonprofit organization working to promote community and economic development in the Katahdin region.  The core of Our Katahdin is a website for people who love the Katahdin region and believe in its future.  Our Katahdin is a connector -- pulling together ideas, people and money to move our community forward.

On the site, Ideas can take shape and be adopted by leaders from the community.  Community leaders transform ideas into projects that attract support in the form of time (volunteers) and money (donations or investments) through the website.  

 There are three principles of the community:

1. We are solution-oriented

   The problems are well understood.  This site is dedicated to solutions.  No idea is too small or large to be considered for support.

2. We are action-oriented

   This site will help us to connect.  But this is not meant to be a discussion forum.  This site intends to inspire new ideas and put them into action.

3. We are community-oriented

   Everyone who contributes ideas and action is a valued part of this community.
