PUBLIC NOTICE
THE TOWN OF MILLINOCKET & OUR KATAHDIN BROWNFIELDS PROJECT STATUS – PUBLIC MEETING
The Town of Millinocket and Our Katahdin will hold a public meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at the Charles Sanders Millinocket Town Council Chambers in the Municipal Building located at 197 Penobscot Avenue. The meeting will also be televised using video conferencing; a link to the meeting will be posted on the Town’s website (www.millinocket.org) and Our Katahdin’s website (www.ourkatahdin.com), no later than noon on July 22, 2026.
The purpose of the meeting is to discuss various projects that are underway and/or have been completed utilizing U.S. EPA Brownfields Assessment funds (Town of Millinocket), U.S. EPA Brownfields Cleanup funds (Our Katahdin), as well as a recently awarded (FY2026) awarded $4M Brownfield Cleanup Grant for the former Paper Machine 11 Building. Representatives from the Town of Millinocket, Our Katahdin, Sevee & Maher Engineers (the Town and Our Katahdin’s Qualified Environmental Professional), U.S. EPA, Maine Department of Environmental Protection, and Great Northern Salmon’s development team (proposed at the former Wastewater Treatment Lagoons) will be in attendance to present information and answer questions.
