GNP Wastewater Treatment Lagoons Cleanup - Public Meeting

OUR KATAHDIN PUBLIC MEETING
CLEANUP OF THE GNP WASTERWATER TREATMENT LAGOONS

Our Katahdin will hold a public meeting at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2024 using video conferencing to discuss the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) Brownfields-funded cleanup of the former Great Northern Paper (GNP) Mill Wastewater Treatment Lagoons. A link to the meeting will be posted no later than noon on January 11, 2024.

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss and hear public comments, questions and/or concerns on the Brownfields Cleanup of the Wastewater Treatment Lagoons located at 1 Katahdin Avenue in Millinocket, at the former Great Northern Paper Mill Site. DECD funds will be utilized to remediate environmental media as part of future redevelopment. A copy of the Analysis of Brownfield Cleanup Alternatives (ABCA) will be available for public review at the time of the meeting. The public comment period will run from Thursday January 4, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. until Monday, February 5, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. Comments may be submitted in writing to Steve Sanders, Director of Mill Site Redevelopment, via email at steve (at) onenorth (dot) net.
