Our Katahdin will hold a public meeting to discuss the Brownfields Cleanup Project for the former Wastewater Treatment Plant Building and Clarifier located at 1 Katahdin Avenue in Millinocket, at the former Great Northern Paper Mill Site. The public meeting will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at 6:00 PM at Our Katahdin’s Offices located at 245 Aroostook Avenue in Millinocket. The meeting will also be televised via Zoom teleconferencing.
During this public meeting, project representatives will discuss the proposed cleanup plan and funding mechanisms for the site. Cleanup activities will include abatement of hazardous building materials, including asbestos, lead-based paint, and universal wastes, and building demolition. An Analysis of Brownfields Cleanup Alternatives (ABCA) has been prepared. Our Katahdin is currently receiving public comments on this document, and the public comment period will run 30 days, starting on Thursday, December 22 and ending on Monday, January 23, 2022. The information repository on this project, including the ABCA, prior environmental assessments, and other environmental information can be viewed on the Our Katahdin website or at the Our Katahdin Office located at 245 Aroostook Avenue during regular business hours.
