  • I am very interested in following the progress of Our Katahdin and volunteering when time allows. I can’t seem to find names of board members and weather or not there are public meetings where one might hear what progress, if any, is being made on getting the results of development studies compiled and updated. Does anyone know if this has been or is being done?

  • Compile economic development studies and analyses done in the past

There have been numerous economic development projects over the years that have conducted various studies and analyses.  As a baseline for moving forward, it would be good to:

    1. Compile all of these documents and place them in an accessible location

    2. Assess the gaps in the studies and analyses (some may be dated by now and need to be refreshed)

    3. Prioritize additional studies or analyses to strengthen the case for business to expand to the Katahdin region

  • Medway Recreation area would also be a great location for such an event. :)

  • Love this idea!! Hope to be involved in some way.

  • Great idea!! Hope it happens!

  • I’ve always said this area needs to provide visitors more entertainment than just the outdoors type stuff. Everyone that visits this area may not be the outdoorsy type. I, for one, know that if I booked a weeks stay in this area and it rained the entire week or was so bone chilling cold that I couldn’t be outside, I’d be high tailing it outta here and I probably wouldn’t book a vacation here again. That was got me looking into an outdoor water park some years ago. At the time the closest one was in Wisconsin. We talked with the owner of the Gateway Inn about purchasing land behind the hotel. We got quotes on buildings from Grey’s custom buildings and I was researching and pricing slides and pools. Now, the entire Gateway Inn property is for sale. Oh to be young and rich!!
