The Spruce-Up Project

The “Spruce-Up Project” is a group of local volunteers whose purpose is to identify projects that will improve the general appearance of the tri-town area. If we want businesses and individuals to relocate to the Katahdin region, we need to make our towns as attractive and well-kept as possible. The project leaders Janelle and John Cyr are looking for additional volunteers from all 3 towns to join their cause.

The Spruce-Up Project volunteers have been busy this summer. They have been cutting vegetation around local buildings and telephone poles, planting flowers at the memorials, raking and picking up garbage in the local parks, picking up loose pieces of pavement, doing paint touchups, and more.
With your donations, and volunteers from all 3 towns working together, a lot can be accomplished.
We hope you will consider making a donation to “The Spruce-Up Project!”
100% of your donations, with the exception of a small PayPal fee, will go directly to fund this project. Some of the purchases include:
- Push lawn mower
- Weed whacker
- Rakes
- Brooms
- Shovels
- Gloves
- Paint and paint supplies
- Solar LED Light for the “Welcome to Millinocket” sign located on outer Central Street
These are the projects that have been proposed to date:
- Painting the ice rink surround at Stearns (August 29th)
- Painting/revitalizing the East Millinocket gazebo
- Mowing the lawns at abandoned buildings in the tri-town area
- Repairing the alley gates near Ferland Jewelers
- Installing a sign at Peddler’s Hill
