Our Katahdin will hold a public meeting to discuss the Brownfields Cleanup Project for the former Wastewater Treatment Plant Building and Clarifier located at 1 Katahdin Avenue in Millinocket, at the former Great Northern Paper Mill Site. The public meeting will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at 6:00 PM at Our Katahdin’s Offices located at 245 Aroostook Avenue in Millinocket. The meeting will also be televised via Zoom teleconferencing.

This notice is to inform the community that there will be a public meeting via zoom to discuss the U.S. EPA Brownfield Cleanup Grant Application submitted by Our Katahdin for cleanup of the Tank Farm on the One North industrial site (formerly Great Northern Paper Company). A copy of the grant narrative and a Draft Analysis of Brownfield Cleanup Alternatives (ABCA) along with information to log onto the Zoom meeting can be found below.

Public Meeting - 230 Penobscot Ave Cleanup

This notice is to inform the public that Our Katahdin Capital is submitting an application to receive funding from the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development Brownfield Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) to perform cleanup activities at the former Miller’s Department Store located at 230 Penobscot Avenue in Millinocket, Maine. RLF Grant funds would be used to cleanup and abate pigeon guano and hazardous building materials to support redevelopment and reuse of the building. A copy of the draft application and a Draft Analysis of Brownfield Cleanup Alternatives (ABCA) is currently available for public review at the Our Katahdin Capital office located at 245 Aroostook Avenue in Millinocket, and on Our Katahdin Capital’s website.

Our Katahdin Capital will be receiving public comments on these documents until Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. Comments can be submitted in writing to Mr. Steve Sanders via email at steve at onekatahdin dot com. Public Meeting - Research Building/Pilot Plant Cleanup

This notice is to inform the public that Our Katahdin is submitting an application to receive funding from the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development Brownfield Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) to perform cleanup activities at the Research Building/Pilot Plant located at 1 Katahdin Avenue at the former Great Northern Paper Mill Site. RLF Grant and/or loan funds would be used to repair the roof of the structure after asbestos abatement had occurred, in order to support redevelopment and reuse of the building. A copy of the draft application and a Draft Analysis of Brownfield Cleanup Alternatives (ABCA) is currently available for public review at the Our Katahdin office located at 245 Aroostook Avenue in Millinocket, and on Our Katahdin’s website.

This notice is to inform the public that Our Katahdin is submitting an application to receive funding from the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development Brownfield Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) to perform cleanup activities at the abandoned Wastewater Treatment Plant and Clarifier Structure located off the Medway Road (across from the airport) at the former Great Northern Paper Mill Site. RLF Grant and/or loan funds would be used to abate hazardous building materials and demolish the Site buildings to support redevelopment and reuse of the Site. A copy of the draft application and a Draft Analysis of Brownfield Cleanup Alternatives (ABCA) is currently available for public review at the Our Katahdin office located at 245 Aroostook Avenue in Millinocket, and on Our Katahdin’s website.
