"I" Love Maine Sign
Project Leader: Canaan York
I love Maine! This project will install a large-scale interactive sign with a photo of Katahdin in downtown East Millinocket. It will give locals and visitors to the Katahdin Region a beautiful and riveting reason to stop and take photos that they can share with friends and family on social media. The sign will be approximately 6 feet tall, with a photograph of Katahdin and large letters spelling out Katahdin MA_NE. The “I” is missing purposefully, so that a person can step into the photo and complete the “I Love Maine” phrase. Photo Op!
The sign will be constructed out of quality, sustainable, durable and weather-resistant materials and mounted on 6 posts secured in the ground. After conducting a thorough search for a local sign maker, a firm in Bangor has been selected to create the sign. The photograph of Katahdin is being donated. The sign will be located near Barney’s Franks, and will have a clear view of the Mill Site. It will provide an opportunity to acknowledge our region’s culture and history. This sign and interactive photo experience is meant to draw people to downtown East Millinocket and capture a moment that can be shared and help draw more people to the region.
Project Budget:
Katahdin Maine Sign 5’x20’ -- $2,000 fabricated
6 posts installed -- $500
