Festival of Trees

Over the past four years, we have seen community members generously support projects that create a sense of pride, clean-up a neglected gathering space, and create hope. Together, we are creating more space for ideas, hope and connectivity between neighbors, friends and visitors alike.

The Katahdin Festival of Trees is building on the magic of holiday festivals to create a new event welcoming to local families, residents and visitors to raise funds to support local students in a very fun, festive way! The Katahdin Festival of Trees is looking for support to purchase the supplies that will be used each year in the festival, including promotional materials, and 10 trees to be decorated and auctioned off. This festival aims to build on holiday celebrations in the region. The committee is planning a holiday parade, hot cocoa bar, winter masquerade ball, children’s games, and hopes to involve the business community with window decorations.

The Festival will happen over two weekends, starting Marathon weekend, at Katahdin Higher Education Center and will compliment existing celebrations, like Christmas in Katahdin. The committee is promoting participation and growth throughout the region. In 2019, funds raised will support: a scholarship to a graduating senior at Schenck High School, Millinocket Memorial Library renovations, and the Medway Historical Society, purchasing holiday gifts for a local family, and the festival in future years!
